in honor of women’s history month …
metro is having a special presentation at their corporate offices. nine of my works of art will be on display for this celebration.
also in honor women’s history, i have several works up at m.e.c.a.
. . . .
i finished an ambitious fabric project i’ve been working on for several days. well, the ink part, anyway. there’s other stuff i need to do that requires at least a week’s time. also working on “cathleen”, and enjoying that. i haven’t started the guitar yet, but i’m waiting till the dust settles after the sister in law leaves [the house is in sort of a disorganized mess. well, not mess, just things are being constantly moved as muddle our way through projects. my room in particular is sort of the catch all and i want a good clean working space before i even begin to tackle that. i have already concluded that i'll need to clear off the table i normally keep my paints on while i work and use that as the surface for the instrument. i'm so jazzed about getting started, though there's a fair amount of prep work before i even think of beginning to lay down any real substance of a painting.]
. . . . . .
tonight it’s Southern Culture on The Skids at the Continental Club with one of my favorite gals. tomorrow my sister in law comes to town, and if she and her friend are up to it, i’ll see this show again.
. . . . .
i paid $3.45 for a gallon of gas this morning. this is no bueno. and there is no excuse. supposedly, the war is over and there haven’t been any hurricanes or natural disasters in recent history. what gives? and why isn’t anyone else pissed about this? last time i paid that much for gas, it was during out Rita evacuation … and i thought we were the victims of price gouging during a time of emergency. how is this becoming so commonplace that it’s acceptable? i’m at this rate, it costs me ten dollars a day to go to and from work.
