Christen Hendricks, who i was e-introduced to by way of a mutual friend, captured my heart from the get-go when i saw the contemporary works of art she produced in what i consider to be a very new medium … the computer. like writing, doll-making, quilting and painting fearlessly, it’s one of those things i have never come to master and envy and appreciate it in my contemporaries. to my absolute wondrous surprise, she created this knock-out piece in acrylics that embodies my alter-ego, Outlaw Jesus. it’s devilishly clever, as it incorporates many elements i’ve used in my work. from the egyptian, folk mexican, religious and even art deco. i was overcome with joy and was touched deeply at the thoughtfulness and talent behind it.
